Don't worry, with good behaviour, you'll be out in 2 :-)

<big snip>

Based open my experience and what's been posted on here you have 2
options...

1. Orange PAYG £1 SIM from Orange, then use Orange World One to get
unlimited GPRS on the days you want access at £1 a day (as one poster
said last night they managed 100Mb on one day for their £1). You'll need
to use a phone as a modem or pick up a cheap datacard. Speed is sedate,
with a throughput of about 30kb/s, but I've used it for a while and it's
good and reliable.

2. T-mobile Web n Walk Professional; 12 month contact at £20 a month.
See

http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dispatcher...s__propellants

Claims to be up to 1.8Mb/s data rate but the best I've seen is 600kb/s
in 3G (which isn't bad), and it will drop back to GPRS if there's no 3G,
and allow access at broadband speeds at T-mobile hotshots.

Deal includes 3g/GPRS/WiFi data card; it shows as £58.75 for the card on
12 months, but that mysteriously disappears when you add it to your
basket :-)

There used to be £73 back on this one via Quidco; no longer
unfortunately, but if you're away for 6 months it might still work out
as worth it

Check coverage on either before you commit, though clearly at £1, the
Orange PAYG option is less of a risk :-)

It's now £29 or £44 per month to new customers depending on the package you
choose - it was previously £20 but this is no longer available to new
customers.

Regarding speed, I am using Web n Walk Professional presently and
downloading a file at 123KB/s (which is over 1Mb/s when allowing for
overheads).

Bugger. It was there this morning. I checked it. It was bloody there I
tell you. I checked it was there before I posted it. And checked that
the card reduced to free when you added it to the basket and it did...

Mind you it still seems to go through from this morning's cached
version...
