Most of them just require a chargable activity. Be it a topup, phone
call, sending sms. As long as the balance on the account changes. I
believe virgin is every 12 months or so. The rest are 6 months.

If you want one that doesn't expire, or require top-ups (i.e useful for
keeping an emergency phone in the car that won't have expired when you
do eventually need it)
