Refurbished handsets on 3

A friend of mine is interested in some of the deals on 3 that come with
a refurbished handset and a monthly cost of £15 for 300 voice mins and
1000 texts.

3 say: Our "refurbished" handsets represent items returned by previous
customers within the 14 day cancellation period where for example they
have simply changed their mind.

Before re-sale of these products we replace the casing and erase all
data from the memory.


Does anyone have first hand experience of these refurbs? Are they
reliable or do they pack up after a few weeks? 3 give them the same
warranty as a new handset.

Any help would be appreciated.

I had a v3x refurb a while back -- decided to go for it and return it
under the 14-day returns policy if it was 'not right'. I've had no
problems, and it was as good as new -- the only thing you don't get is
the original box. Good deal IMHO.

On the upside the phones are probably nearly new.

On the downside they will be locked, crippled and above all you will be
dealing with 3.

i got refurb nokia 6280 from 3 on their Direct Text 1400 plan (£15/month for
18 months, double mins and texts for first 6 months). Also, i ordered online
via Quidco and got £100 cashback

Phone was in perfect condition only packagaing indicated that this wasn't a
brand new phone. No complaints so far (2moths).

All in all very good phone. Also, excellent service form 3 call centre

Probably a 14-day return. These have the benefit of an engineer
inspection and flash to latest firmware. In many ways a refurb gets more
care and attention that a new unit coming off a production line.

The £15 deal went up to £17.50 at the end of December.
