Default Refused Credit For New Mobile .

Having applied for a new phone with Cool New Mobile on a T-Mobile CB
deal and it having been declined by the network I applied to
buymobilephones.net for one on the Vodaphone network . I called them
today to see what was happening and they said that Vod had declined it
and said it was something to do with my address. I had a similar
problem with O2 last year and it was my flat position that had caused
it ...I think it had been left off the O2 details but it is shown on
the electoral register .It got sorted anyway .

The retailer this time said Vodaphone would tell them no more and gave
me the number to call Vodaphone but of course it wasn't the number
they use to call them and when I called them I was going round in
circles to try and get someone with the brains to deal with the
situation .The first guy said to go back to the retailer even after I
had carefully explained what they had said ....I asked for a
supervisor but surprise, surpise they were all in a meeting ..Funny how
they always are when you ask for one Eventually I got someone with
some sense but even he said just to get my Credit Report but he did
agree to get a supervisor to call me back in an hour or two ..That was
about 4 hours ago .

I have seen my Experian Report and there is nothing there to suggest a
problem ..and no sign of any queries by T-Mobile or Vodaphone
......I've still to try Equifax .

I know that my current network O2 have a credit appeals Dept ...does
Vodaphone have a similar or any sugestions how I can take this
forward. I have had contracts last two full years without any
problems .All payments on time and no other credit problems anywhere .

Stuart .

It's likely that the previous occupant of your current residence was/is
a scrote.

Best thing you can do is to research and carry out "dissociation" of
yourself from the previous occupiers of your property with Experian and
also might aswell do Equifax while you're at it.

Thx for that .I've lived here for 23 years and had credit elsewhere
,including a CC ,with no trouble so it must be something else .

I didn't think they were allowed to do on address anymore because of the
problem of previous residents.

I also remeber years ago doing a check on what info was held about
myself and there were details about other residents of the blck I stay
in .we all have the same street number ..it's the flat position that
differs .
The info now only relates to the person requesting his/her credit file
details .

Hmm that seems more tricky.
Would an individual name for your flat help?
Like for example:

Steves Place
10 the flats

??

It's never been a problem, apart from last year when O2 refused me then
gave me the contract when I explained . Could be this is the problem
with Vodaphone if only I could get to speak to someone who will
listen . .The electoral register shows them ( 8 flats) all seperately
with flat positions .0/1,.0/2,1/1,1/2 etc etc up to 4/2...No different
to flats anywhere else .

No different to anywhere else...?

I take it you've never been anywhere else?

I assume your address is in Scotland? Scottish Flat addresses are
notoriously difficult to match. I suspect your suspicions are correct.

I meant no different to any other part of this area that has tenements
.. ...Why should Scottish flats be any more difficult to match than
anywhere else . 1/1 or 1/L
I take it you mean that other parts of the country give each flat a
different number as in Flat 123,47 Acacia Grove . Thats reasonable
where there are loads of flats on the one level but tenemnts here have
only ( usually) two doors on each landing ( level) ,one left or 1 and
one right or 2 .

I suppose folk here just have got used to the system
