SE K800 Voicemail Notification

I have just bought a SIM Free k800i and am using my Orange contract SIM in
it. When people leave voice messages the phone doesn't notify me and I have
only just found that I have 7 messages I didn't know I had. Whenever I have
had an Orange branded phone I have always received a pop up notification or
icon - is there any way I can enable this feature with either the handset or
Orange?
