Skype unusable on N73 and '3'

I have an Nokia N73 from '3' and was unable to get Skype to work at all
without resorting to a 3rd party app - Fring. However, the voice quality on
Skype is terrible, totally unusable. Any ideas anyone?

I am using Skype in on a Dublin number by the way, while I am in
Mancherster. Not sure if that makes any difference.

My 6120 is supposed to do Skype, but I have never managed to make a
Skype call. Normally it won't even sign on, and if it does it tends to
switch the speaker off, so I have to reboot the phone to be able to
hear anyone.
