Looking to buy a Bluetooth GPS thingy for my SE 610i.
Really looking as cheap as possible. (about 20-25 quid). There seems to be
plenty of choice on eBay, but I don't know much about the technology, and so
buzzwords like 'channels' and 'chipsets' (SiRF III ?) don't mean much to me
in this context...
I guess with channels (satellite connections?) the more, the better??
Anyone got any particular recomendations of devices they think are
especially good, or had any nightmares with devices that I should avoid at
all costs...?
Thanks.

I have TT Navigator 6 on my XDA Trium and its just as good as a regular
Tom Tom.
Downside is the speakerphone in the phone is not very good for for
making calls and you cant use a sperate bluetooth earpiece at the same time.
I am now looking at either new phone with built in GPS receiver (Nokia
N95) or XDA Orbit II so I can dispense with the GPS Mouse needed to make
Navigator6 work.

I bought a BlueNext BN-900GR GPS receiver a few months back to go with my O2
XDA Exec after my other sat nav went belly up. Iirc I paid about £30 but
can't remember where I got it from - I had done a Google search and picked a
shop that looked reasonable.
It's a great unit, very easy to set up and very fast at locking on to the
sats. It is also very fast at re-calculating routes and seems to have
excellent battery life. I am more than happy with it and wouldn't hesitate
to recommend it.

Sounds good. Will check that one out...
Did you buy online, or from a 'proper' shop? I guess if it was Google'd, it
was a shop of the netty variety?

Oh, also, does it have a user-changable battery? I know some units do, other
require a little 'effort' to get them open, but have a standard battery
inside. With others still (I guess the cheapest ones) you cannot change the
battery...

I bought it on line, sorry but can't remember who.... It has a rechargeable
battery that's built in - I haven't looked to see if the unit can be opened.
If the battery did die then the unit can be mains powered from the cig/cigar
lighter.
