Default Spanish data?

Hi

Off to Tenerife soon for my yearly break from the British winter and I'd
like to plug in a spanish prepay SIM to get some 3G data.

Do any of the networks (maybe Orange?) do the equivalent of Orange UK's
£1 per day unlimited data? What should I ask for in the local shop?

Cheers

Geoff

Following up to my own post...

Looks like new operator Yoigo may offer something along these lines:
data charged at €0.0012 per kilobyte with a maximum price to the day of
1.20 € + IVA.

In other words, pay 90p and get a day's net usage.

However 3G data coverage for Tenerife looks pretty poor - mostly around
the capital (Santa Cruz).

Plus I'm not sure (my Spanish isn't great) if you must take out a
contract, Virgin-mobile stylee, or if you can get a PAYG in the
traditional style - there seems to be some sort of monthly minimum
expenditure figure.. Anyone with 5 minutes to spare who can read
http://www.yoigo.com/tarifas/index.php better than my combination of
slight Spanish and google-translate?

Cheers

Geoff

no better skills here, but there are several references to card or
contract (tarjeto o contrato), and this looks like top-ups are of any
discretionary value - I haven't found a validity period for it yet
though ...

I've been looking for something similar. So far my most promising lead
is http://www.gosim.com/index.php?page=spain which offer a prepaid Amena
sim that allows you to use WAP for about 1c per kB. Works in Tenerife too
but looks expensive for the SIM.

I have friends who speak pretty fluent Spanish - so will probably be
better asking them.

However, the card says that you remain in control of your spending and
recharge when necessary.

The sim costs nothing, but it's €15 for a new number. Says it includes
€20 as well.

However there is a minimum spend of €6 per month.

Virgin Mobile UK sim would be better at 0.5p/kB!
