I toying with the idea but I'm a bit of a text addict and I'm not sure
I'd cope with the lack of buttons. Does it bother you?

I've read that the GPS is disabled by Orange and required some hacking
to get it working again - is this true? I've not had the opportunity to
test this for myself.

Hack is only required to get the gps icon on screen.
Personally, never bothered with the hack.
Stuck the sd card with the tomtom maps in the phone...
Selected built in gps reciever.....
All up and running in less then 5 minutes.
Well impressed with the built in gps , picking up 3 satellites in the
lounge.

Just got mine last week.
And the built in GPS antenna is the killer for me.
I'm waiting for the 4 gig mini SD to be delivered, then I can have a
decent digital music player, sat Nav and a phone in one small box.

You get a full virtual qwerty keyboard for use with the stylus, or you
can do "gestures" to write with the stylus.

It required setting a registry key in windows mobile GPS Settings
hidden=1 to hidden=0
The the settings applet appeared. After that, I got it working.

There is quite a bit of talk on other forums, regarding problems with
cards over 2gb - file corruption and random deletions.
A few of the posts mention certain makes, and others mention problems
as soon as the used space on 4gb cards goes above 2gb.

I agree.
I swapped from a SE P910i, and I miss the number pad, but am getting
used to it.
WiFi is great. It gets a good signal from the router in parts of the
house where my laptop and tabletpc struggle. I've set it up for VoIP
by using Sjphone software too.
Just walking or driving around, it is amazing to see it finding loads
of wireless networks. I thought I would have to turn the WiFi and 3G
off to save battery power, but it just sems to go on and on.
The same size phone with a slide out keypad would be ideal.
