Default Switch from O2 to Vodafone

Hello, over the past 12 months I've been on contract with O2, the
contract has now expired and I wish to switch to Vodafone pay as you
go. I recieved a PAC number on the 27th of December, is it possible to
use this to get Vodafone to transfer my number to them? or will I have
to request another number?
Also is it easier to purchase a Vodafone sim and switch the number to
that, or ring up vodafone to get them to send me a new sim?
Any relevant phone numbers would be appriciated, as both operators
websites are very poor in explaining this topic.

Thanks in advance, Adam.

Get a Vodafone SIM, e.g. from here:
http://www.didcot-salsa.co.uk/NewSIMS.htm

Get a new PAC from O2

Ring Vodafone to port your old number to the new SIM

PACs only last 30 days, you will need a new one.
