Default T-Mobile N95 - Very bad battery life

Finding that N95 on T-Mobile, even with WiFi DISABLED, needs charging every
single day, with only moderate use.

Is there something wrong with the hard/soft/firmware, or is this normal?

Many thanks

Nope. It's a feature. I've had mine for a month and it's great - the
only let-down is the battery.

I manage to get listening to music, about an hour of phone calls,
surfing t'internet, taking a selection of photos and uploading them as
well as checking emails and downloading a few Podcasts is fine for a
days use.

Tip: Bring your spare charger to work and charge it as you listen to
music. Not ideal, but it works.

When you're checking email, do you download the lot, or just the headers?

Download the lot. I'm on T-Mobile's Web'n'Walk so there are no real
issues with speed or cost.

Ditto.

Have you got Truphone? I managed to make a test call over 3G with Truphone
and believe this may be covered by Web N Walk.

No, I haven't got Truphone. I'm happy with the
more-minutes-than-I'll-ever-reasonably-use-plan that I'm already on.

I find switching the phone to 2g except when using the web improves
battery life.

T-Mobile Flext 35 + Web'n'Walk.

But seeing as I have no friends I don't ever get all that far into the
inclusive minutes generally.

While that's true if I were to do that it would render the phone
pretty useless.

I haven't got an N95 yet. I read all these reviews where people
complain that they have to charge the phone every day. Well, if you
have got facilities for charging, is this really such a big deal?
I always put my phone on charge every night anyway.
Until there is a marked improvement in battery technology then there's
not a lot that manufacturers can do, if they are to produce
multi-functional devices, except for software that, optionally,
disables certain functions when not in use.

No, it's not. I've certainly had a moan about the battery life,
especially over the first few days when one uses the phone a *lot* to
play with, and the battery isn't quite 'bedded in' yet, which appears
to take a good two or three full charge/discharge cycles. This means
you really do have to let the phone run very low on battery power.
However, it's fully charged in about 90 minutes.

>I always put my phone on charge every night anyway.

Having a charger in the office would be useful too, that way one can
charge it while listening to moosick.

I initially thought there'd be a good case for an after-market larger
battery complete with a replacement battery cover, but then it would
make the phone feel different.

If I _forget_ to charge my N73 one night, no problem.

If I _forget_ to charge my N75 one night, no service the next day.

That's the difference for me.

Not sure why you think that, I use 3g for the internet and occasional
video calling, switching between the 2 takes 10 seconds and I'm sure
could be even quicker if I made a shortcut to it.

But I don't want to keep switching modes.
