Default T-mobile web n walk (pro), gmail and slingbox

Anyone else using gmail for their e-mail and accessing it via pop3 on a
T-mobile web n walk? Or a slingbox.

OK I know it's a bit specific.

I can get to web sites, run skype, webmail (including gmail), pop3
e-mail to other services, but not to gmail. Nor can I connect to my
slingbox.

Works fine if I move across to my broadband connection, as it did when I
was using Orange PAYG GPRS in my other datacard.

Does T-mobile block some stuff?

Can't comment on the Slingbox, but the TMobile-preconfigured pop3 Gmail
through Outlook works fine on my Mda Pro. Laptop Outlook Gmail also
functions when using handset as a 3Gmodem.

Frequently cannot use pop3 Gmail in handsets, where the email function
doesn't have the option for secure server & authentication +
nonstandards ports - which Gmail requires.

Oddly, I tried taking the SIM out and popping it in my Nokia, and used
that as a GPRS modem, and as if by magic both gmail and the slingbox
worked.

I put the SIM back into the data card and they didn't

That makes sense, but I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem on
the datacard as it's just a 3G/GPRS modem

I use the Gmail SMTP and POP3 servers via T-Mobile Web n Walk Professional
through the datacard without any problems.

Can I ask what version of the T-mob software you are running?

As a follow up; I've discovered that they both work fine with the V2.5
software that came on the CD with the datacard, but stop working on
upgrading to V2.7.

Interesting, I have binned the software as I get fed up with. I used the CD
to install the drivers for the datacard, and connect using
Dial-up-Networking (or whatever it's called nowadays in Windows XP), using
the telephone number *99# and the AT string listed in the manual. Much more
efficient.
