Default Three at end of 18 month contract at £17.50 pm

When I called to cancel with Three around 16 months ago they offered me a
minimum contract where the average cost per month was £17.50. It wasn't
straight forward as it was based on credits and goodness knows what to
average out at this figure for the duration of the contract.

What happens at the end of 18 months do they put it up to the £35 per month
or will they start charging a net £17.50 per month.

Don't make it easy do they?

Ken

Just before 18 months you call 3 Customer Retentions and negotiate an
upgrade,
pointing out all the other possible deals you could get instead.

Don't wait for someone claiming to be from 3 to offer you an upgrade,
it'll probably be an independent 3 dealer trying it on.

Yep will do. My daughter just called T Mobile to say end of contract and
what can they offer to keep her custom and they said nothing so she
cancelled and is looking around. So not sure if this was becoming more the
normal.

That's what i wondered too, 3 are now the network they should have been.

What a networks CR dept offers you depends entirely on their retention
figures,
if they have been good last month they'll tell you to sod off,
and the opposite is true.

i.e. I've heard at the moment Orange CR are making good offers to keep
customers

3 should offer something good, they've always tried to catch customers

I suspect they'll put it back up to £35/month. Did they not tell you
in writing?

Check over at
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/...play.html?f=14
(that's their mobile phone forum)

There are several lengthy threads discussing what 3 will offer if you
cancel.
I called a month before the end of my contract and asked to switch to
PAYG when the contract ended.
I then waited until about a week before the PAYG was due to start and
they came back with an okay offer.
SE 770i (free) 250mins any time, any network, 100 txts. £10 per month
on an 18 month contract. Nowhere near as good as my previous deal
which was approx £10 for the whole year! (e.g. £1/month)

The deals seem to vary from month to month and from person to person.
BUT the main trick is to wait for them to make you an offer after
you've cancelled. If you try and ask them for a deal it wont be as
good.

Forgot to say that is one of their standard £15/mth contracts with £5
discount. They've said, in writing, that the discount will last for
life. But I'll probably cancel in 18 months to see if the deals are
any better.

Not having inc mins.
So they mostly call from landlines?

They could use calling cards to reduce cost
