Default Three - excellent

Just wanted to give a very big thumbs up for Three...

I have just gone back to them after a previous contract where I was less
than impressed. It's now two years on since then and they have come on
in leaps and bounds. I have a new N73 on the X-Series Gold tariff which
is half price for the first 8 months and I am very pleased so far.

3G coverage is excellent here now when I used to get very patchy and
unreliable coverage before. The walled garden has been removed so I can
now get access to the full internet. The unlimited data downloads is
fantastic, I can stream music and video to my phone, receive my e-mail.
Open documents to read on my mobile, even have photos I take
automatically uploaded to an on-line gallery. With the Yahoo! Go
synchronisation I also don't have to worry about backing up my data,
it's all taken care off without me having to do a thing! More
importantly I don't have to think about how much extra it's all going to
cost because everything is included.

I've had to speak to customer services twice so far once to sort out my
e-mail and the other to sort out my PAC migration. Both times the
operator was helpful and was able to sort out my problem quickly and
without any hassle.

From my experience I can highly recommend Three now, they seem to have
finally settled down to provide a reliable service.

This does seem to be getting good reviews here and elsewhere, so I
might
well head to the three shop this weekend and sign up.

Having been with o2 (or cellnet as they were back then) since 98, it's
probably
time for a change, especially given o2's GPRS rates.

Cheers

I only joined 3 (PAYG) in November. I called them to port my number to
them and their CS was excellent, they even called me back on a landline
to confirm all was OK. I called them to ask a question and they were
very helpful.

Two of my friends who recently joined have been very very impressed with
CS.

To think only a few years ago my cousins were having no end of problems
and the CS then were useless.

I would certainly second this - when I heard about X-Series, it sounded
good value and promised a lot. After reading what people were saying
about it on here, it sounded like it delivered what it promised, so I
signed up.

Was on T-Mobile c Web & Walk Pro before for my email but didn't get a
signal at work so it was quite unreliable. Don't need the unlimited
internet from my laptop anymore as I use WiFi everywhere, so decided to
move over to Three.

The signal seems much better than before (at Three's launch when I last
used them). The phone is good and Mobile Mail is fantastic (messages
come through instantly and no problems sending either). Having MSN and
Skype is a nice touch too - although I can't seem to get connected to
Yahoo! Go when other things are using the internet connection on the
phone?

Anyway, I think this is something that will pick up a lot of customers
for Three along with their own-network free roaming deal. As they only
seem to offer expensive tariffs which give you just about everything
free, it seems they can afford it.

It's like Three have become everything that Orange once was. And what
they should be.

I'm much the same in that I have broadband at home and broadband in my digs
when working away, but having the internet on your mobile at anytime is
great. During the day I listen to Internet Radio, playback BBC Radio 1 shows
I've missed and get home local radio channels while working away (Listen to
Scottish radio while in England for Sports News).
I personally ditched the mobilemail app as my battery kept getting flat with
it overnight, I just use the built-in email client with automatic retreival
set to every 5mins & 30mins for different email accounts I have and I can
also set it to only certain times of the day or days as well. So, so far no
dead battery in the morning.

I have MSN on all day (Drops out every so often, but reconnects again with
no probs) and I use Skype at night to call the kids when their online, call
quality is very good..

This is what internet on your phone should be and for an extra £5 a month
its a bargain.

PS: I only stayed with o2 previously because you used to get gprs free via
port :8080 for checking my email, but when they did away with that, what was
the point of staying with them when their charges were daylight robbery.

Skpye on my mobile would be great. More of my friends are using skype
now,
and one of the things i hate about it on my PC is that I need the PC
on, and I'm
tied to it via the headset. Being able to walk around while on the
phone would be
a real advantage - something i got used to from cordless landlines.

I think you're limited to 5000 minutes or something, which is a good
few hours a day,
do I don't see i'll hit that limit.

I presume this is internet on your phone, not via your phone - ie you
can't use it
from a laptop as a "modem"? Tho tbh the cases i'd need that are so rare
thesedays,
and I have an orange PAYG SIM that i can can use their "all you can eat
GPRS for a
quid" deal on when I do need it.

I thought o2 were overcharging me, but I don't think they were, just
ther prices are
so stupidly high. Even at the full price for three X-Series silver (35
a month) I'd be saving
on what i current pay o2, and that's after i cut my GPRS usage right
down.

Is there a limit to how much internet browsing you can do on your mobile
with the 3 X-Series?

This is taken from the Fair Use policy on the Three website:

Unlimited Data
Fair Use Limit: 1 GB each month

1 GB should be more than enough to allow you to surf websites, use
Mobile Mail and download podcasts. We will let you know by text message
once you have reached the fair use limit and ask you to cease using the
included data services for the remainder of the month. If you continue
to use the services we may suspend your data usage until the next month.
This will not impact your access to other X-Series services.

Unlimited Windows Live Messenger
Fair Use Limit: 10,000 messages each month

This is more than 300 messages each and every day! If you exceed 10,000
messages we may suspend your access to Windows Live Messenger until the
next month.

Unlimited Skype to Skype calls
Fair Use Limit: 5,000 minutes each month

5,000 minutes is more than 2.5 hours a day of Skype calls – every day of
the month. We will send you a text message to let you know when you have
reached 4,500 minutes. If you exceed 5,000 minutes we will suspend your
usage and it will not resume until the next month, however you will
still be able to receive Skype calls.

Unlimited Slingbox and Orb (on X-Series Gold)
Fair Use Limit: 80 hours each month

On X-Series Gold you get access to Orb and Slingbox (if you have one).
These services have a total combined fair use limit of 80 hours each
month. We will let you know by text message once you have reached the
fair use limit and ask you to cease using it for the remainder of the
month. If you continue to use the services we may suspend your Orb and
Slingbox usage until the next month.

My Wife is totally PC illiterate, so been trying to look for a cheap Skype
Wifi Phone and you don't need the PC on (That's if you have Wifi broadband),
but cheapest I've seen is £84, so might wait a few months to see if price
goes down as newer products are become available. Most people I know use
MSN, but I've been trying to get them to switch or also have it on their
PC's as well.
PS: My 8 year old is okay using the PC and its her I call when she's online
after school.

I hooked my N73 up to my laptop to try it as a modem (With the Nokia PC
Suite software selected to manually connect, access point three.co.uk and
everything else blank) and looked at a few web pages, so waiting till end of
month to see if I'm charged for it, I wont use it as a modem, but you never
know so it will be good to know I can in emergencies.

Think the other networks will need to follow three soon or they will lose
customer fast. Been with Three two months now and can't say one bad thing
about them so far. Sales, Billing and CS have all been very good.

Now if I could just find a program which will play wma stream for some radio
stations and a IR Remote program for TV & Freeview Box I use will working
away (Saves carrying romtes about with me) I'll be happy.

PS: Also now have 8MB (40GB Download limit) Home Broadband for £5 per month
via Sky Broadband, ditched Orange (Wanadoo) after my line became 8MB active
and they wanted me to sign another 12 month contract to change my speed from
2MB to 8MB, even though I signed up for Wanadoo's Broadband Plus Up To 8MB
package, they sneakily changed the T&C's back in Dec 06, but didn't inform
me, so complained to Orange Higher Complaints Dept 0113 298 2005 and don't
have to pay the cancellation fee (still got 2 months left of 12 month
contract) as they never ever informed me of their change to my T&C's.

Just goes to show it's not that CS centres in India are rubbish, it's just
that some are crap wherever they are.

Open an account with www.quidco.com and get £100 for signing up to
Three online (less £5 as your first year's admin fee).

I have the N73 on X-Series Silver, and I second everything said. I have
70MB in my first month, I shudder at the cost of that on O2.

70MB? Come on got to do better than that this month! )

1st month I was unsure what I'd used and it ended up only being 240MB an
that was me using Internet Radio and downloading Podcasts. Don't think I use
that much on email.

So far this month I've used 395MB, might get near that limit by the end of
the month?

If you want to know your usage go to
http://mobile.three.co.uk/3prepayweb/usage from the built-in web browser.
Found this while messing about in the 3 internet section.

Wow, I've had my X-Series for about a week now and I've done a lot of
music streaming & video streaming, uploading photos and constantly
checking e-mail. Basically showing it off to everyone I know, and I've
only used 12MB..... how can that be?

I can't actually see how to order a contract from their website!

Go to Quidco, log in, search for three, click the link to take you to
the 3 website, order from 3.

Make sure you have cookies turned on and best to clear out you cache
and cookies before you do the deal. Quidco rely on tracking cookies to
track you purchase and earn you the cashback. I got my £100 after
about 2 months and also got the refer a friend bonus from 3 (£30
iirc).

18 month contract half price line rental of £15 = £270 minus £130
cashback = £140 for 18months plus phone and no sending in bills or any
hassle.
