U880 Reception strength problem - advice needed

I have a U880 on a three contract - out of warranty - it has been dropped
onto 'soft' floors once or twice but now seems to recieve a much lower
signal strength than it used to. I appreciate that this is likely due to my
'mistreating' it !

Does anyone know if there is anything I can do that might improve things (I
am a consumate tinkerer of all things electrical) or someone who might
proffesionally tweak it ? Is it a common problem as it always seemed to get
really good reception before.

Any other ideas ?
