Default UK shortcodes from abroad when roaming?

A quick question for the learned gentlefolk here:

- You are on a UK phone, roaming abroad in the Republic of Ireland
- You send a text message to a UK shortcode (specifically 81215)
- Will it get through okay?

I've a plan for the weekend and wonder if it might work. I think it
does, but not totally sure.

All help gratefully received.

I have been told by a short code provider that it does work from
another country.

And others have told me of sending ok from O2 mobiles abroad in
Europe.

But I had a problem sending from a German Vodafone here, and was just
charged an ordinary roaming fee

Certainly I'm aware of this working on Orange, so I guess/hope it
works on all UK roamers.

Thanks for that, Andy...

It should work as the SMS goes to the message centre (stored in your phone
in int'l format, +44.....) and that then sends the message to the
shortcode... so in theory, no difference here or abroad.
