Default Using PAC Before end of Minimum Term

Hi,

I've recently requested my PAC from Vodafone for a 12 month contract I
started on 18th July last year. I'm assuming they will send the PAC to
me within the next few days.

Where would I stand if I were to use it a couple of weeks early. Would
they let me pay line rental up to 18th July and release my number
early or would they refuse to release the number?

Do I need to inform Vodafone in advance of when I want to end my
contract or is supplying the PAC to the new network sufficient notice
of cancellation?

I've got my eye on a 6300 free for 12 months on Tmobile at e2save and
I'm not sure how long it will be around for.

Thanks for your help

Tom

Once you have been given a PAC you have 30 days in which to use it. If
you fail to use it you will continue being billed by your 'old'
provider. I recently moved from O2 to Virgin. I found out how long it
took for Virgin to do the changeover and then gave them the PAC so
that I didn't leave my contract any more than 3 days early.
I gave O2 one month's notice and asked for my PAC.

A few points:

1.) Your current service is terminated once the port has been completed.
You will not be able to use it after this point.
2.) You are contracted to for your current service until the end of the
minimum term.
3.) Irrespective of whether you are in or our of minimum term, you
typically are contracted to give 30 days notice before terminating the
service.
4.) A PAC is valid for 30 days.
5.) If the PAC is unused after that date everything continues as before,
no changes are made.
6.) If the PAC is used, then you are deemed to have served notice on
your current service provider on the date the PAC was requested.

Combining all these together, if you are given a PAC code port before
the end of the minimum term and you transfer your number before the end
of your minimum term, then you're still liable for the line rental for
the remaining period of that term, even though you're unable to use the
service after the transfer date.

In effect, your final bill (possibly on the normal billing date
following the transfer) will contain a charge for the remaining days of
the minimum term.
