yes, call 5555 to activate it if its not activated already.
(automated
service sets it up for you).
Passport is available in Greece as long as she is on vodafone greece
when
she's there ("vodafone GR" on the handset) Don't know about now but
last
year vodafone only had one roaming agreement with vodafone greece for
pay as
you go customers - if this is still the case she will be automatically
be on
vodafone greece all the time anyway, but just check it hasn't changed
to
"TIM" or "cosmote" when there. If so manually change it back to
vodafone or
you wont get passport rates.
You can top up using greek top up cards from vodafone greece or easier
to
use credit card. call 2345 as you would in the UK (which is free where
ever
you are). best if the card has been registered before leaving which
you can
do on the vodafone website I believe.

The website is appauling, I've spent 20 mins working out how to register a PAYG
phone. It seems registering for online services doesn't do this....
Anyway, Passport is easy (or it was when I registered) - just call 5555 and go
through the menu. It's free to register.
Calls cost the same as they do at home plus 75p per call, receiving is a flat 75p (up
to an hour IIRC).
Important to check you're on the right network before making a call (Vodafone or
their partner network in the country you're going to), otherwise passport doesn't
apply and you'll end up paying stupid prices. Unlike in the UK, your SIM won't be
locked to Vodafone, it'll pick up any old network.

Hi Guys,
Many thanks for your help, just a couple of small questions ..
1 - If I call her from my Vodafone PayMonthly .. will the call just
come out of my monthly allowance + 75p from here allowance ?
2 - If she calls the uk does she just have to dial my number of does
she have to prefix it first with +44 ?

Are you going with her? If you're there as well and have passport it'll cost you 75p
plus your home rate (or use up your inc mins) PLUS cost her 75p.
If you're in the UK then it'll cost you exactly the same as if she were in the UK,
and it'll cost her 75p.

She will have to prefix it +44 (and drop the first 0), otherwise she'll get someone
in Greece!
It's an idea to always store numbers in international format, it doesn't make any
difference when in the UK and it saves pissing around with different numbers when
abroad.

Thanks for your answers guys,
What I'll do is get her to call me up and I can then call her straight
back and use the minutes from my allowance
What would happen if I call her and she's not using Vodafone-Greece
but one of their local networks ? .. would that start eating away into
her call time ?

As long as you don't answer when she calls - cos then she'll pay 75p twice (once for
the outgoing and again for the incoming).

Very rapidly. Vodafone do usually send helpful texts suggesting she switches if she
roams onto the wrong network.
