I'm setting up a Vodafone small business shared minutes plan for my
company. Phoned them the other week and spoke to someone about the
various options. He gave me his direct line (an 078xx number).
Since then I've been checking out pricing permutations via the Voda
web site - seems you can order these small business plans online.
Chap phoned me yesterday and I mentioned I'd been online. "I can
match the pricing" he said. This surprised me. I had assumed since
he was also from Vodafone then the pricing would be the same. Not so,
it seems. The online pricing is usually better. He went on to tell
me how he'd "met his side of the bargain" by providing me with info.
He got pretty pushy about it.
He had a point, but what a daft sales structure. The company from
which I buy our software and hardware has an excellent web site and we
have an account manager. The account manager doesn't mind if we order
online or through him; the value of our orders obviously count towards
his figures for bonus purposes.
