Default Vodafone, keep quiet or try for an upgrade?

I currently have a very good deal, £9 a month for 200 mins anytime and
250 texts with stop the clock. Coming to the end of my first ever
contract (18 month deal) but do not want to lose the £9 contract if i
ask for an upgrade. Is the upgrade lark just an excuse for up selling
and should i sit tight or see if there is a new phone in it for me?
TIA

At £9 per month it's hardly likely that you will be offered a free
upgrade - those are reserved for customers who generate more revenue for
the network...usually approx £25-£30 per month spend and upwards is
considered worth negotiating with.

Low-spend customers simply reduce their ARPU ([A]verage [R]evenue [P]er
[u]ser) figures which they report to the market and investors on a
regular basis - I'd keep quiet if I were you.
