Default Vodafone Mobile Connect Software Issues

I wonder if anyone else in this group has encounted any issues when
using the Vodafone Mobile connect software version 9.3 (and 9.2) as
follows -
Internet connections work ok, but I have written an application which
uses a TCP connection on a high port to communicate to a dedicated
server (not web based). All I get is a connection and a few stray
bytes of information (not what I put in!), after that no data flow at
all.
If however I change the Connect software to version 7 then my
application works correctly.
I have tried this on both XP and vista and it always comes down to the
Connect software
Unforturnatly I now need it to work with the latest Vodafone USB
dongle and version 7 will not detect the USB dongle (too new I
assume!).

The strange thing is that if I connect to a Web site then everything
works correctly. So I know that conductivity can occur.

I have even tried my server on port 80 and I still had the same issue.
It is almost as though the connect software refuses to pass data if it
is not detected a Web Server!

I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this problem, and hopefully
found a soluction?

Incase anyone is interested in the answer (!) then the soluction is
not to use the supplied software but to use VMCLite available from the
Vodafone web site.
It appears that it is the optimiser software which is the problem in
that it passes all data and compresses it, even it you don't want it
to. In other words you can only use the USB Dingle as supplied with
Web based data, if you want to use other software then hard luck!!
The VMCLite software does not include optomiser software and passes
data as suppied instead of insisting that it knows better!!!!

Note that Orange and 3 does not have this issue and works fine as
supplied!!
