Default Vodafone online Billing

What are user's thoughts on this site being incomplete and under maintenance
for such a long time now. Frankly, I find it downright disgusting that it's
taking them so long to sort out. What are fellow users of the facility's
thoughts?

I agree, the site has been totally out of action for several weeks,
and is now still only partly in action.

Vodafone assured me that it would be fixed last friday however
surprise surprise its not.

Last month I could not view my bill details and so requested an
itemised bill be sent out. This was then charged at £1.50 for the
itemisation and a further £1.50 for the "copy bill". None of these
charges were mentioned when I called and as they suggested sending the
itemised one too me due to the website problems I hadn't even thought
there would be a charge. The charges have now been refunded and ive
also been given free itemised paper billing.

I can understand that they're doing maintenance, however some more
information about the problems that they're encountering/dates that
the work will be completed would be greatly appreciated by me and im
sure many others.

At the moment customer services have not been made aware of any
progress towards the repair of the oline tools. This is why you may
feel like your hitting a brick wall when you ask about the service.

It must be one hell of a problem. Is the technical aspect of the website
outsourced? I've heard it's to IBM, but if it were I'd have thought it
would have been sorted well before now.

Just tried the site again. It has now deactivated my online billing. I
couldn't remember my PIN, so I changed it...No deal. I try the 3 security
question option. Only one problem. I have only had one bill from Voda so
far and cannot for the life of me find it to get my BAN from the account
number.

Does anyone know a way of getting my account number? Or am I stuck having
to search for my Bill?

Still not working here... Is it still working for you, or has it collapsed
again?

It works to give me a summary of my latest bill, but can't get the
itemisation or such. I've heard from other users who have 2 or 3 accounts
that one account works, but the others don't. It must be to do with
different accounts on a database server cluster where one server is on the
mend whilst the others are still buggered up.

Ah - right. I misunderstood. I've had no probs seeing bill totals, but
haven't been able to access call itemisation for ages - despite monthly Voda
emails claiming it's available. Guess I'll need to be patient, and hope
it's sorted before the archived months are deleted.

I'm afraid "server clusters" are a bit beyond me, but I think I get the
general idea.

Many thanks.

Ser clusters are basically groups of servers over which a large database may
be spread over. If one of these has a problem, then it only affects the
data that is on that part of the cluster and database.

I see. Thanks, Tesla.

So shouldn't they duplicate the data (redundancy?) so any problem might slow
the response but not make it completely inaccessible?

In theory, yes. But that means money. And big companies don't like to
spend their ill-gotten gains...
