Default Vodafone unlocking - can't contact

I want to check to see if my phone is old enough to qualify for a free
unlocking code from Vodafone. It's been recommended here that the best way
to do this is to go to the Vodafone site and use their "contact us" link.
However, that link is currently out of action due to 'website upgrading,' so
they're basically uncontactable by email at the moment. Do they supply
unlocking codes over the phone?

If it's out of contract then they can unlock the phone. That's what
happened with my Nokia 6680 after 12 months. I phoned them up on 191
and asked for the code and a few days later got it by e-mail and then a
week later in the post too. The same for my Nokia N80 for which I paid
£20 for the unlock code.

Whether you get the code over the phone or not may depend on the phone
you have.

Sorry to hear of the problems you've had getting through to Vodafone by
email. It's still possible to get your NUC by dialling 191 from your
handset. Give them a call and the customer service advisor will be able
to get your code for you and let you know how long you've had your
phone from your previous purchase and upgrade history on the account.
I'd recommend before calling that you make a note of your IMEI number
(enter * # 0 6 # into your phone and press send).

Customer Services will then assign your request to Vodafone's network
resolutions team. Vodafone do have certain NUCs on our systems -
therefore as Phil says some codes can be provided sooner than others -
however with some makes and models we do have to send off a request to
the manufacturer who then send the code back. Network Resolutions will
then put together this information in a letter and send it out to your
address. You could always give a quick call to 191 after your request
to check the status of your NUC.

Alternastively, depending on the make & model, you can get the
unlocking codes fropm various websites and do the job yourself. For
example:

http://www.unlockme.co.uk/

Which I used earlier this week to generate a code to enable me to
unlock a Nokia.
