Default Warranty On SE Battery

About three weeks ago I called S/E Support as the battery on my W300i
was needing to be charged more frequently . They said it had a 12
months warranty and as it was bought in May 2007 I should send it to a
conpany called Kuehn and Nagel with proof of purchase . I sent it with
a copy of the original order from the retailer . This morning I get a
ltter from K+H saying that it is not being replaced as it is out of
warranty .The reference showing beside the item on the engineers
report is 07W11 which I understand from Googling to mean the 11th week
of 2007 which is around the 12th March 2007 .They directed me to the
S/E website for warranty details but is is a maze .

Quite how they consider this relevant is beyond me as the phone with
battery was bought within the last 12 months so is IN warranty .Maybe
they havent heard of Consumer Legislation.

To rub salt in the wound they want a tenner to have the battery sent
back or £37.44 for a replacement .

I tried calling them but as it is Easter they are on holiday ..shame
as I was in the mood for an argument :-) To call S/E on an 0870
number costs 10p a minute as well.

Anyone else had a similar problem.

Stuart

Don't know what it is about Kuheune and Nagel but they seem to be reluctant
to carry out warranty repairs. I sent them my Samsung d900i as advised by
Samsung CS and i got a letter back saying i had to pay 17.00 to get
unrepaired mobile back or pay 47.00 to get it fixed. I kicked off such a
stink by writing to Samsung Chief Exec at head office to get mine sorted. K
& N also said mine was an out of warranty repair despite only being a 6
month old mobile.

Out of warranty in this context can also mean "damaged by the customer".

Well you must have a different interpretation of "Out Of Warranty" to
me .

Anyway I 'phoned Kuehne and Nagel this morning and explained the
problem .
First thing I got told was that My Name and Postcode were not on the
system so I should 'phone Sony E.
When I (again) explained that I had a letter from them (K+N) and gave
her the Job Number she found it on her system but said it was a
charger I had sent !!!
I explained it wasn't a charger .It was a battery and she said that
they didn't deal with batteries, only handsets .By this time I was
getting rather exasperated and it clearly came through in my voice
and she said " Would you mind not speaking to me like that" .I felt
like saying " Trust me .I'm not saying what I'd like to say" .Anyway
she manged to cut me off either accidentally or deliberately .

I then called back and the next girl found it on the sytem but said
that I had not sent proof of purchase !!! . When I told her that I had
she said she would need to send an e-mail to the workshop and call me
back when they replied ....dunno why she couldn't just phone them but
Hey Ho.So that's where we are at the moment .

Stuart .
