what character set for SMS on Nokia phones

I'm on a Nokia 6300 (launched 2008)

A friend is on Nokia 6210i (launched 2000)
http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_6210-12.php

The larger set of special chars on the 6300 means many get munged when
they're displayed on the older Nokia. Is there a table which shows the
character mapping from one phone to the other?
