What payg network would i get best value for 20 a month?

Hi,
currently on orange pay as you go, their old speak easy tariff, 15p
anytime anynetwork a min. I topop £20 a month and get 600 free texts,
free evening net browsing. I use 3-400 of them on average a month. My
calls are to all different networks, and rarely land lines.

Anyone know where I could get better value? Like some free calls/evening
calls to anynetwork? Still have atleast 300 free texts per month?
And get cheaper call costs? I text anytime. And my calls are anytime.

o2 turned me down for their 20 quid a month 30day contract!
then three turned me down for £18 a month mix n match!
don't understand whats wrong, using an orange mobile broadband 18 month
contract for months, no problems, always pay my bill by DD.
No other credit.

I would ask o2 and Three why they turned you down. and if it was because
of a poor credit report, ask them to supply the details of the credit
agency they used to obtain the information. They are obliged to supply
you with this information, and you can then contact the credit reference
agency, pay a fee of £2, and obtain any information they hold on you. It
is worth the effort as if you don't think you have a bad credit record,
someone might have stolen your identity and could have given you a bad
credit rating without your knowledge.

and send them a 2 quid cheque. see what they come back with.

Give Orange a ring and ask to leave; requesting a PAC code to transfer
your number to another network. They'll put you through to their
retentions department who can apply different benefits to your account
if you state your reason for leaving is cost...

Ones that they will apply easily are:
1) 5p calls to landlines and other orange phones (for life)
2) 12p calls to other networks (for life)
3) 3p texts (for 6 months (but, after which you can ring up and ask
for them again))

note that calls are still subject to a 15p min call charge and if you
change your tariff with any of the above on your account you'll loose
them so don't be tempted by the animals!

If your lucky they can also add "free evening calls." It's not a
promotion currently running but is still on their system if your lucky
to get through to someone who knows where it is!

3 network Stretch 21 (£21 p/m) would give you 700 mixed text and mins.
or Stretch 18 (£18 p/m) would give you 500 mixed mins and text.
and 100 mins to 3, and free Skype with an appropriate phone.

Internet you can add for 50p a day, £2.50 a week or £5 a month.

was looking at the animal packages and the call charges are higher!
would still get my free texts on one of them tho.

but looking at this current offer http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/sim/payg_sim
I could get a new sim, and for £20 top up get 180 evening and weekend
minutes anynetwork.
it says I would get 300 free texts too, but can't work out if that is a
one off or every month?
Away to email them about that offer. 300 texts would do if i had the
free evening calls.

I think the 300 are just a one-off 'welcome gift' for new connections.
If you wanted to change to one of their new amimal tariff's you can
call 450 and use the automated system instead of getting a new SIM
too.

There are also orange SIM only deals at http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/paymsim
that you might be accepted for as you already have an Orange data
contract.

Let us know what Orange retentions say if you do decide to ring them!

Oh to renege now the deal is done. They are rather notorious for not
honouring offers that they make as 'tempters' to get you to ring up.

Is it worth considering Asda Mobile or Ikea's Family Mobile (calls 8 or 9
pence and texts 4 or 5 pence + very cheap data)?

Can't fault it, no 3 coverage in some villages i've recently visited,
but seamless roaming on Orange 2G was fine, maybe one dropped
call in 100.

hi, thanks for all info.

I went and got a 10 quid a month sim only 1 month contract from orange,
giving that a go.
150 anynet anytime minutes, charged by the second, includes checking
voicemails,
300 anytime anynet texts, and unlimited off peak texts,
30 mins video calls.

So now i'm getting better value - more for half the price.

What really annoyed me with payg was if I called someone and got their
voicemail or only had to ask a quick 20 sec question, it cost me a
minimum 15p a call.
For 20 quid credit i was only getting max 132 mins, if i used every
minute fully, basically impossible, and got 600 texts.

The SIM packs used for SIM-only are 2G, I'd be interested to know where
you got a 3G one from, and for £10. The Orange website mentions SIM-only
from £10 per month but when you look at the listing they start at £15.

yep they sent me a 3g sim. was hoping i would get that coz could find
no option for selecting one.
found they 30 mins video calls are for 2 months only.
it's called dolphin 10, i'd noticed they had removed it from their site
the day after i ordered it, asked them why when i was registering it,
said it was replaced by a new dolphin 15.
