Default Wi-fi on an Orange phone

My employer has 'upgraded' me to a Nokia C3-01 - and what a B
awful phone it is, no wonder Nokia are going down the pan.

Anyway, it is a business account phone on Orange. I have my own
voip account with VoIP.co.uk and it would be useful for me to be
able to access it through wi-fi on the C3-01. However Orange seem
to limit the voip service providers to just a few none of which
are mine.

Does anyone know if it is possible to use my voip account on this
phone and if so how? Would unlocking it allow me to set up my
voip account or is some other devious route necessary?

I have a Huawei Blaze (PAYG on O2, unlocked) and with Sipdroid it
works perfectly well as a voip phone - but I don't always carry
it with me which, for business reasons I do with the C3-01.

Any clear responses gratefully received.

Yes - google up voip Nokia and eventually you will find a page with the
little applet you need to down load.

Start here
http://www.developer.nokia.com/Commu..._Nokia_devices

You then have to configure it.

Depending on model it will set up on wi-fi.

In my N79 it would stay on wi-fi unless the phone was power cycled out of
wi-fi coverage then it would connect over 3G.

On my N8 it connects over wi-fi, but changes to 3G once out of coverage and
does not normally switch back unless you tell it to change connection [back
to a wi-fi one].

Allegedly Nokia took it out of the default firmware under pressure from US
SP's.

PS I am assuming the C3 supports VOIP native as most recent Nokia's do.

Your employer must hate you? Nokia C series are budget phones

Don't you rate an N series?

Not orange here, so debranding probably wont help.

My wife has one of these, unlocked and unbranded and the choice of VOIP
providers is limited, and options to set up manually (like my N9 does)
are non-existant.

Our IT people seem to think the C3-01 is the tops. If you ring
Lemon on 158 and say you've broken your phone they send you a
C1-01 - which in my book is a far better phone. At least it goes
part way to being as good as my 6310i!!!

I need a phone for calls and texts - which my employer must agree
with as we don't have Interweb access on them either!

Thanks for that Mark.

I went digging as you suggested and I'm now even more confused.
The C3-01 'Touch and Type' needs a S40 compatible app, but can I
find such a thing anywhere? Can I heck. The Nokia developer forum
is undoubtedly an area for clever people but it is way above my
level in the food chain.

I have found an app called Viper but I can't find a S40 version,
any other apps found also come with a voip service which I don't
want. It doesn't help that my phone does not have Interweb access
either so anything I find must be downloadable so that I can
transfer it by cable to the phone.

If you have any further suggestions or help my gratefulness
continues.....

Have you asked Voip.co.uk? They've always been very helpful when I've
sent them a "Support" question.

It's not an app exactly - I will find the link.

You are probably looking for

SIP_VoIP_3_1_Settings_S60_5_x_v1_0_en.sis

from here IIRC

http://www.developer.nokia.com/info/..._Settings.html

Annoyingly lost them when I installed Anna and Belle :-((
