I'm on the lookout for primarily a PDA with an easily searchable
contact list and with a simple and complete autosynch facility. I also
wanted something with WiFi / browser for checking wireless AP's etc.
I have had many of the palm range over the years and think I like the
look of the T|X (I would have tried one in PCW if they could be
bothered to power the display up) ;-(
Anyway, by chance a mate has an unused O2 Xda IIi and I've been
playing with that for the last few days and like it quite a lot.
The boxes it ticks are:
It autosynchs very easily.
Connects to the 3 WiFi AP's I've tried it against so far.
Browses the web ok (for a 320 x 200 display but it's bright and crisp
even for my old eyes).
Data entry is *ok* via the stylus ..
Works ok with familiar apps like MSN messenger and Skype ..
Battery life seems ok (no idea the condition / age of the existing
battery).
Loads of free apps for it.
Battery user replaceable.
External memory via cheap SD (2G Max).
50+M built in 'storage' and 128M memory (I think).
It's also quite small / light (compared with me especially) ;-)
If I was to get it net unlocked I could potentially use my T-Mob PAYG
SIM (currently in my 3510i) and as it also has BT, use it instead of
the 6310i (my other mate gave me and is currently being re-flashed)
with the Jabra SP500 (BT speakerphone) I'm thinking of getting? I am
still happy to have a phone and a PDA though (and I'm sticking with my
Garmin GPS V for the foreseeable). ;-)
As a bonus the Xda can play MP3's (internal speaker quite loud) and
video files (not that I'm bothered about that really). Similar with
editing Word / Excel docs.
So, shall I see what my mate want's for this Xda 11i, go for the Palm
T|X or something else (Nokia N800 / other)?
