It really depends on the service you're using. Services based on
Asterisk tend to only allow one registration at a time. If you have
more than one trying to register then the last device to do so will
receive incoming calls. Services based on SER or other software may
allow multiple registrations depending on their configuration but you
would need to check with the service provider to know what they're
using or if they support multiple devices.
My advice would be to use an ATA or hardware phone where possible and
use a soft phone (such as Xten) only when needed and with a separate
headset or usb device. In my opinion most headsets are better than the
USB phones and a USB phone is no substitute for an ATA and "real"
phone.
