Default Geographic Numbers for VOIIP

BT for Business just told me that they can not provide gographic numbers
with their VOIP service.
When last I looked about a year ago others could. Is there a way of looking
up which providers can provide 01509 geographic numbers. Better still
suppliers that can accept a number transfer.

Look at this website http://www.orbtalk.co.uk/
or this website http://www.coms.com/

Do you mean this?

Both providers have free English local (geographic) numbers.
I use here in the Netherlands an English voip number.
My mother in United Kingdom can ring me now very cheap.
She rings with Onetel for free to local English numbers.

There are loads.

voip.co.uk
gradwell
voipfone
aaisp
voiptalk
sipgate
coms
voipunlimited
zimo/numberstore

I know the otp 3 on the list can transfer numbers in. I reckon some of
the others can too.

This is BT Loose Interpretation of English and Standards (LIES).

The most common is to say something is technically impossible, when what
they mean is BT won't do it. A classic example is for years BT teletubbies
have been saying you can't have ADSL and ISDN on the same line, whereas this
has been available in Germancy since at least 2000 (when Computer Weekly out
them on its front page).

In germany, ISDN is often required to have ADSL.

ANNEX B (ISDN) Dslams are cheaper than ANNEX A Dslams (voice, what BT
make you have) as well.

At least not for the last 3 years. Although Germany was a keen adopter
of ISDN, all new connections are offered in either Annex A or B. The
ISDN option being about 3-5 Euro more expensive.

I thought annex B was *always* used in Germany!? (both for analogue and ISDN
lines)

> The ISDN option being about 3-5 Euro more expensive.

What is the approximate monthly price for an ISDN line in Germany?

In Belgium the cheapest ISDN line is 35 euro,- per month, as opposed to the
standard analogue line of 17,- euro per month (there is a cheaper analogue
line of 6,5 euro per month, but then the calls are more expensive). With
such a price, ISDN could never gain much acceptance unfortunately (apart
from business usage).

Are you saying the ADSL bit is 3-5 euros more expensive over ISDN?

Forgetting the ADSL. In germany, isn't an ISDN line cheaper than an
analogue line anyway? Just for voice.
