I don't know anyone who uses that tariff, but if you do make enough calls
for it to be viable, why not..? I don't, so I don't use it. There's no way
I would allow myself to be ":brainwashed" into using any system I hadn't
thoroughly researched first, though.

If you mean me Ron, please state exactly where I have done this. I have
never forced anyone into using any system they don't want to, I do and
will continue to recommend Sipgate as a provider for those whose calling
patterns it favours, such as my own, if you don't like it, tough, you are
free to leave this group and go and moan elsewhere, I doubt anyone will
miss you.

To use that analogy, you have to have reliable public transport available.
If you live somewhere where it isn't, then it's of no use to you. It would
take me well over an hour and a half and three buses to get to work from
here, and it would be a long walk home afterwards as they finish running 6
hours before I finish work when I'm on the late shift.

I have £12 left of £20 I put on Sipgate two years ago. Why should I pay
more..? You seem to think spending more money than you need to is some
kind of virtue, me, I call it stupid, along with those that do it.

No, because people who need it have no option but to pay it. Why are we
discussing someone's signature anyway..? Except to say that it should have
the -- (space) separator before it but doesn't.

They aren't perfect though - I have a ticket outstanding from a year ago.
They have never managed to get caller id fixed on forwarded calls - still
puts in an extra 0.

Don't worry Ivor amd Dex are regular sparring partners when it comes
to Sipgate and Vonage. Say something about Sipgate and you've lit the
blue touchpaper. :-)
Remove 'no_spam_' from email address.
25/10/2006:Symantec charge exactly as much in GB pounds as they do
in US$ for the same Norton DOWNLOAD.
It's goodbye Norton - hello free AVG until they stop ripping us off.
Why should we be ripped off in the UK?

Yes I already have experience of their tiffs. Should've known really...
I solemnly promise not to mention the S word or the V word ever again...

I haven't paid it. I'm still living and breathing. What's your point?

Same here. I've been with Sipgate since they first started in the UK over
2 years ago. Yes they've had problems but that's to be expected with new
technology in an emerging market. I'm an experimenter so I don't care too
much if things play up, part of the interest is getting it working..!
Take no notice of Dexter, Ian. He had a bad experience over 18 months ago
and won't let go. Most people here ignore him. I confess I do bait him
from time to time, but that's my warped sense of humour ;-)

You have it but haven't paid for it..? Or you don't need it so don't have
it..? The point is if you *do* need it you have to pay the asking price.

I don't need it so I don't have it. If I did need it and I wasn't happy with
the price it was available at, I wouldn't buy it - I'd either buy a similar
product from one of their competitors [Norton aren't in a monopoly position
AFAIK] or I'd do without. To go back to the original point:

If it costs Symantec more to do business in the UK than the US, why should
their US customers subsidise their customers in the UK?

But if nothing else served your needs, you'd have to buy it. Going
without (on a broadband connection, at least) isn't an option IMHO.

I agree entirely, but again if you need it you have to pay what they want.
Market forces etc.
