How exactly do you use 2-digit Sipgate shortdial?

I've created some "contacts" but how do you call them, is it just type in
plain 03 or whatever? Or do you have to do something like *03 or #03.

As far as I'm aware they only work with the Grandstream BudgeTone phones,
I haven't been able to get them to work with any ATA I've tried.
