How to keep my old landline number

Hello,

I have a telephone number with Virgin Media. I'm planning to move to
another town very soon which has a different area code, but my number
is very important to me. I have it printed on business cards, head
letters, the number is in directories etc.

I'm worried that when I move Virgin won't allow me using my existing
number. Are there any ways I could transfer this number to some
telecom company which will allow me using this number even though I
will live in another place?

I can thouroughly recommend them as a service provider too.
I have an 0845 number and an 0117 number with them for inbound business
calls, free 0870 inbound fax -> e-mail which has also reduced the amount
of junk faxes we see. Their free answerphone to e-mail (voice message
e-mailed through) also works brilliantly..

Then use one of the betamax providers for all outgoing calls except
0500, 0800 and a few others that voipfone are better for.

Works for us.
