Hello Ivor,

I noticed you state that you had no end of trouble when you first started
with Sipgate. A change of router fixed the issues for you. What make & model
did you have & what did you replace it with?

I'm having some baffling problems with Sipgate. I'm fairly sure it's at my
end. I have a number of Sipgate numbers as DIDs on an a@h installation. Some
work all the time, others don't. Some have problems with incoming calls,
some with outgoing. None suffer from one-way audio.

Please note (any readers) that this is not an invitation to slag Sipgate
off. Nor do I want recommendations for alternative suppliers. Ta.

The initial setup was a Draytek Vigor 2200USB router with the old Alcatel
"frog" USB modem. It worked fine until I started with VoIP using a
Grandstream ATA486. I was getting one way audio, no audio and similar
problems, I eventually found out from Sipgate tech support that the
Draytek device was not compatible. This is *very* unusual for Draytek
equipment, it is normally excellent, but this particular one didn't like
Sipgate..!

I replaced it with a combination of a Netgear DM602 modem/router and a
Sipura SPA-2000 ATA, which gave me no problems at all for the most part,
although I only got occasional audio between my two lines, but as I don't
phone myself it wasn't a problem ;-)

Recently I needed an extra number, so I decided to try the AVM Fritz!Box
Fon which Sipgate had just started selling. It is the easiest to set up
piece of kit I've ever used, almost literally plug & play, although if I
have any complaints about it it's that the dial tone and ringing tones are
still the German ones rather than the UK ones, despite the regional
settings being set to UK. I've reported it to the manufacturers, so
hopefully a firmware upgrade will fix it. Apart from that it's been
faultless, I even have my Sipura 2000 plugged into it to give me my extra
numbers, all of which work perfectly.

There I can't help you I'm afraid, I have no experience at all with
Asterisk. Someone will be along soon who knows, I'm sure.

I see you're aware of our resident trolls ;-)
