I think you will find that if you look through previous topics this
seems to be the norm for sipgate

Both the above usually indicate a misconfiguration in the phone/ATA
somewhere. Was it working before..?

Sometimes, it depends. If both require a STUN server to be set you may
find one will work and the other not, the only way is to try it and see.

Go on tell us why a misconfigered ATA will mean the prompts are in german.

Because the error messages telling you that your system is misconfigured
haven't been recorded in English (yet).

Whys that then Ivor? How long does it take them to get the basics right?
If I was running such a service, I would consider that first impressions
were very important to the success and wellbeing of a company. For the time
it would take to make the voicemail work as it is intended would take little
time, and save them a lot of bad press. I wouldn't even launch the voicmail
until it had been tested by a group of beta testers to make sure it was up
to scratch. These lot just leave it on even though its plagued with
problems. I doubt that if they knew how to cure it, then it would have been
done months ago. Failing to cure something so simple, hardly gives the
customer much in the way of trust. That voicemail should have been put
right weeks and weeks ago, its a disgrace to the company and would be a
major embarrassment if I was in charge. Infact if I couldn't sort it, I'd
get someone in who could.....AND FAST!

Strange that, your problem seems to be the exact opposite..! It couldn't

I said the error messages saying your system is misconfigured haven't been
recorded in English. I didn't say the voicemail files hadn't, I have no
idea why that lapses into German, I believe the system runs in Linux which
is a black art to me, I'm a DOS diehard <g>
I do agree though that it should have been sorted a long time ago.

Would you mind dropping me a e-mail? Wana know where you got that
linksys wireless router!
I'm trying www.justdialvoip.com at moment, it's £1.99 a month, with
evening and weekend UK geo calls included. And mobiles 20p for 20mins
evening, and 15p for 20mins at weekend.
I've only just started using them, call i made before was brilliant
quality. I'm just sorting out my ATA's way of handling new vociemail alerts.

Thanks for all your replies.
The constantly engaged was due to the Three Mobile I was using, did call
Three and they where having some sort of routing problems.
Also re the voice mail in German, now ok. I suppose as they say it is free
and still in Beta testing I can't moan.

Yep, as I say, sipgate admit it is in beta and having issues, At least they
are having a go.

Yep, they sure are!
I am rather impressed with the voicemail on justdialvoip, it allows you
to have something like this for your greeting:
"Sorry, i cant take your call, you may leave a message or have your call
transfered to my mobile, or office phone. Please press 1 to be
transfered to my mobile, or 2 for my office, otherwise leave a message
after the tone." Genious!

I thought that you were the beta-testers?
From their news section, "02/03":
"Voicemail Live! 02/03
Beta testing, not fully operational
sipgate has activated the voicemail feature. The system works, but still
has some work being done to it. Please don't flood the support mail with
questions or complaints about voicemail as they will not be answered
until the system is running well."

Like you back vonage. I can not say which one is better, but if you
think Vonage is better then fair enough, if Ivor thinks Sipgate is
better then fair enough. there is not need to argue about it.
I think BT is the biggest load of rubbish on this earth, but I do not
argue about it.

fair point AD c, although ivor rams it down everyones throat when i dare to
praise vonage for being the best , which incidentally they are if you want
flawless service that doesnt deop and fail continually like pissgate does.
still most people will have anything for FREE like sipgate so you get what
you pay for i suppose

That still do not mean they are the best, I expect there ar other
sevices out there which are just as good if not better.

I have heard different, from what information I been looking at over the
net, there is not diiference between any VOPIP service, they are all as
bad or as good as each other.

If you say so, I think Bt is the biggest waste of space of a company on
this earth, and if I ever have to deal with them again, it will be too
soon.

At least they are offering CLID free of charge now, not before time. TW
have just increased the cost from £1 to £1.50 per month for it.
well ivor free is goos but only when it works, i would only evert consider a
free service if it was as flawless as vonage, surely you can understand that
becuase my vonage lines are flawless and have never had any issues with them
thats why im reluctant to get one of these so called free voip providers, i
have no problems paying for a reliable, top notch service ivor love.

Only because they have to find someway to stop customers going
elsewhere. even free ClId is not enough to get me back using them. My
phone bills have never been lower, since I changed, it more than makes
up the price I would have to pay for CLID, if I had it.
