It's not just you, it's happening here too.
Calls to other sipgate numbers are working fine, as are receving calls.

It wouldnt be so bad is one of Sipgate's worst detractors hadnt mentinoed
that it all goes t##s up at the weekend just a few days ago ;-)

this whole episode proves how incompetent sipgate really are, yet again as
the weekdn comes and go's the service virtually stops working, like me and
dex have said previously its because the krauts have gone out boozing all
weekend.
When will you lot learn that you get a cheap, almost free service and you
therefore get a crap and consistently faulty service, are you all mad or
something why do you put up with Sipgates incompetence.

I get the same from my accounts that have credit. From a number that
doesn't have any credit on it I get the recorded announcement saying I
have no credit, so whether this has any significance or not I don't know.

First time it's gone off here since around March. From an account with no
credit though I get the normal recorded message saying so, which might
indicate the problem is elsewhere, but of course I will now get blasted
for even thinking it ;-)

Oh, here we go.
Please resolve this in a more appropriate forum, like private email, and
not here where it is wildly off topic.

It was back on when I got up this morning. I know I'm going to get blasted
for saying this, but was it a Sipgate problem at all..? I was getting
engaged tone when dialling PSTN numbers, now the simple fact of the matter
is that Sipgate's network *does not generate* engaged tone at all,
anywhere in its system, so that tone *had* to have been coming from
outside their network. The question is, where..?

Yes, I think so.

No, your ATA does.

Their SIP servers were giving authentication errors, It was a fault with
their system.
Either way, been working fine all day, even made a call to spain today
on it without a problem.

True, but only for SIP to SIP calls. Calling a BT line for example will
result in the ringing, engaged or whatever tone being passed through from
BT.

Hmm, so why were only outgoing PSTN calls affected..? SIP to SIP and
incoming PSTN were fine.

I'll be interested to find out what the exact problem was.

Frequently the first ring tone is generated by the server you are
connected to, which is why a failed connection can produce one ring tone
and then an error tone.

I don't know, but I've got server logs you can look at (which were
giving authentication errors when calling land lines but not when they
were to sipgate numbers), maybe sipgate have a different authentication
process for internal calls.
Maybe it wasn't sipgate at fault but someone further up the chain.

So why was I getting a tone returned to me which Sipgate's system does not
generate..?

yet again ivor your comments prove that you have direct links with sipgate,
only an employee would know these things.

Engaged tone on a outgoing call will be due to a possibly 600 message being
recived by your ata. the reason for the call failing could be deduced from
the sip messages. or making an call to the number from an ISDN phone and
looking at the trace from that call.

I disabled my peer to Sipgate on Sunday morning due to the connection being
up and down like a w***** draws.

I would guess that the connection between sipgate and the Interconnect went
down.
Ie: Sipgates SER to the gateways AS5400 or whatever is being used.

> Maybe it wasn't sipgate at fault but someone further up the chain.
They still should be monitoring their interconnects. Other suppliers
possibly using the same gateway didnt have problems.

but ivor keeps this one going with his clear link to sipgate, why doesnt he
just admit it, i admit my connectiosn to various cmpanies god knows why he
doesnt, perhaps he likes to create an air of mystery.
