Default voip.co.uk

Anyone having trouble with voip.co.uk this morning. Lights have gone
out on the adaptor and the website is unobtainable.

Are you using your own adapter or one of their supplied adapter?

Dialling 121 or the 0845 number for access to voicemail wasn't working
for me but other than that it was ok. Email to voip.co.uk was failing
for me as well.

It appears to be working again now though.

I seem to have fixed the problem by changing the DNS Server
Configuration for the adaptor WAN settings from manual to automatic.
But the voip.co.uk provisioning server keeps resetting this back to
manual so as a temporary measure, I have disabled access to the
provisioning server from the adaptor while I await a more permanent
solution from voip.co.uk.

Today's troubles and previous complaints by people saying they cannot
get through to me has made me ask BT to reconect me.

To be fair, I have had very few problems with voip.co.uk. Today has
been the only day there have been problems but I have only been with
them for 3 months. But for 1.99/month, it's not bad for free off-peak
calls.

I agree from my point of view it has been mostly faultless and I will
keep the line, however a number of people complain that sometimes they
cannot get through despite the box showing it is online.

I just use voip.co.uk for outgoing calls and I always find it
reliable. The incoming senario may be less reliable but I abandoned
that a long time ago as I preferred an alternative voicemail system.

Well, without being specific ...
It is possible to use
voipfone
voiptalk
easypabx
or even voxalot if you can forward your number.
There are lots to choose from that have a better voicemail system and
I don't think you will have to go at all far down the list to find the
best one. The quality of web site matches the quality of service I'd
say. The problem with the voip.co.uk voicemail is that it only allows
you to listen to a message once then it is automatically erased. Of
course you can pick it up on the Net but, personally, I don't think
that is a very satisfactory. However, using voip.co.uk for outgoing
calls and an alternative for incominng calls operates very well for
me. The only disadvantage is the CLI problem. In practice I don't find
it to be a problem. There is a message on the voip.co.uk voicemal to
direct to my incoming number and I only give my number to a limited
set of people anyway.

When I was talking to voip.co.uk support a couple of weeks ago they
mentioned that they will soon be upgrading their voicemail system soon. So
hopefully there will be some big improvements.

On Feb. 8th this year I received an email which stated.
" We are also taking steps to provide a better
voicemail service in the near future."
I got fed up with waiting. I am still awaiting the sorting out of my
account since all the billing went wrong in March. However, as,
previously stated, I am happy with outgoing calls on voip.co.uk and I
still recommend them to people on that basis.
