This is a UK group. Read the charter and do not spam.

No offence but what makes you think the poster even read this group
before they posted let alone now?

The scene: Floor 7, Bldg 5, Lihe Industrial Estate, Nanshan,Shenzhen,
P.R.China.

1st Chinese: We need to plomote new ploduct

2nd Chinese: Good Idea. I will use newsgloup lobot software to spam all
VOIP and terephony gloups.

Later that day:

2nd Chinese: Hory shit! I just read all the newsgloups and we upset Ivor

1st Chinese throws himself on sword, 2nd Chinses jumps out of window.

It can be useful to be informed, on a single occasion, about some
services. It is often much cheaper to register with a foreign VSP to
make calls to certain countires. However, in this case, you'd have ot
be able to understand Chinese to navigate this site. If they want to
post to a UK site they should take the trouble to present theior site
in English too.

Remove 'no_spam_' from email address.

If they want to post to a UK group they should read and abide by the
charter.

Doesn't matter. If you say nothing it gives the message you don't care. To
other people who *do* read the group. Such as yourself.

SNIP -

Plenty of offence from stereotypical racist tripe that went out of fashion a
generation ago.

Agreed, racist crap like that is oh so unfunny. Worse than spam.

I clicked the link and was automatically redirected to
http://www.iplink.cn/newsite/en/index.htm which IS in English.

My comment is that it looks remarkably like the Atcom website and the
products seem to be the same - though "re-clothed".

And does it stop the spam? ..... No. It's a pointless & futile exercise.

Maybe so but I can't sit by and do nothing. To do so would be to indicate
acceptance.

But Ivor, wether you do something or nothing, the point is you can't
stop it. You might as well open your window, face China and shout as
loud as you can "Stop posting your crap to uk.telecom.voip!", it will
have the same effect. If someone wants to post there is no mechanisim to
stop them. If you want that level of control, you are better off running
a web forum. The people that post the crap don't give a damn about
charters.

Usenet is totally out of control, you only have to look at a group like
alt.os.windows-xp to see just how out of control it is. The kooks love
it because nobody can stop them and even less ISPs even do anything
about them. Sorry, I'll get down off my soapbox now.

pub.

<sigh> Sorry, I didn't realise uk.telecom.voip was a sense of humour
free zone.

Who are also based in Shenzhen. Albeit a different district. I wonder if
that's where the PA1688's were made.

In that case send a complaint direct to the people who posted the spam, you
can often trace an address from the advertised web site.

That way this group wouldn't be clogged up with your messages pointing out
your opinion of what people can and cannot do which are just as bad as the
spam, and we wouldn't be irritated by your attempts to demonstrate your self
importance.
