| | | Voipcheap & caller-id (FritzBox) I'm using the FritzBox with Voipcheap for outgoing calls
I have registered my landline caller-id (format 003256xxxx) with Voipcheap
client.
This worked for many months now ....
But recently, many - not all - outgoing calls are not coming with the
caller-id presented
Checked with another user in Belgium - he has the same problem.
Anybody else having the same issues ?
I can only see 2 reasons:
* or a problem (temporarely I hope) at Voipcheap
* or the Belgian Telephone Company (Belgacom) does not like calls from
outside their network with a Belgian caller-id, and intercepts these calls.
I would suspect the latter, if users outside Belgium are not experiencing
the same issues....
Any touhts ?

theory being that they can't validate it). As a lot of the vc.com calls are
"bounced" to a third country a lot of the time, this happens a lot.
I guess if it only tends to happen with one inbound provider (and not on
mobiles for example) then I would tend to suspect an issue with a carrier
downstream.

..com or dot.co.uk?
I set up my voipcheap.com line to send my landline
number, but I only did it 6 days ago, after seeing a post
about it here. I am using a Linksys PAP2 but
accessing my providers via Voxalot, so I needed to
put the "authorised" CLI in the Voxalot "from user"
setting. It seems to work 100% of the time to
BT lines, Vodaphone (UK) and Orange (UK).

I suggest you try to verify your land-line phone number again. I did
recently to enable CallerID on my Linksys SPA 3102 and it works like a
charm.

Doesn't seem to be as my land-line number appears correctly.

Nope, as I'm also a Belgian citizen.

Interesting. The BT PRI we use at work regularly displays CallerID numbers
for calls from the US, Gibraltar and Singapore.

Not at all. I have an international line. When I ring friends on it the
number comes up as 00xxx xxxxxxx etc etc. Same as my mobile if i ring the uk
on that, the CLID is presented with no issues.
If the number is withheld, and international you get the symptoms your
describing.

I can confirm this. I had the same problem with Voipdiscount and when I
checked the client the verifications had gone. I re-verified and now
Caller ID now works well from my ATA and also via Voxalot. Seems as if
you to have to check it regularly.
I haven't worked out the timing but it could be related to the top-up.
When you think about it there is a logic in it because you could well
have moved and lost your true number at some stage. Would be nice to
have a reminder though.

Perhaps you post a message in their forum suggesting this reminder.
Would be very helpful sometimes.
In the meanwhile getting a notification of running out of credit would
be welcome too, especially if you're using their service with a
SIP-enabled device instead of their client.

calls out using VC work fine with mobiles but not on BT (often shows as
international).
I guess it could be the fact that it is sent as a presentation number then? |

Step-by-step guide: ;)
- Log in as Administrator
- Switch to Voice Line 1 tab
- Enter something in the 'Display Name' field (it doesn't matter, I
didn't figure out where it's displayed anyhow/anyway)
- Enter your phone-number in the 'User ID' field in the
+32xxxxxxxx-format (32 is Belgium)
- Enter your password in the 'Password' field (obvious)
- Set 'Use Auth ID' to 'yes'
- Enter your VoipCheap/VoipBuster UserID in the 'Auth ID' field
- apply the changes, let the gateway reboot and start calling.
- you can verify it by calling yourself on your cellphone.
Note that I verified my phonenumber also in the +32xxxxxxxx-format.
Perhaps it's related to each other, but I'm not sure.
Hope this helps,

Thankyou, Sinna, that's a very clear discription, thus, if it still
doesn't work for me this way, I'm not the blame, and some "power"
greater than me, is the blame...
That saves me looking further for it, i guess.
Yes, I registered/verified it in the +31xxxxxxxxx format, all subscriber
phone numbers have (also) a 10 digit number format, here in the
Netherlands.
Did you change anything in Regional, like: Caller ID, Feature Invocatio,
method, or Caller ID FSK Standard ?
But i guess these settings could differ per country.....

You're logged into the SPA3102 as admin and advanced ?
you have to login 1st as "user" then again as "admin"
then click on "advanced" and on the tab LINE1 at the bottom, you should
see these settings.

Sorry, my previous post is incorrect !
You should only do this "trick" in the section "Subscriber Information"
UserID: +31xxxxxxxxx (LINE1 tab)
The settings at the bottom, should be normal..

Well... it shouldn't work there, because i guess you "missed the point",
If you're using the SPA3102, your gateway account, you need that to
log in at your ITSP, to make the connection, otherwise,... your
telephone company has blocked the use of it, on it's switchboard, here
in the Netherlands it works fine, i have to say that i had to set my
dialing method to DTMF (Finland, Sweden) other settings left to
untouched/default
But my SPA3102 is a European version (EU)

i for now, have set only one sip account in the SPA3102, and i guess
it's a trick with limited use.
I noticed also, that my DTMF setting works unstable, ETSI FSK works best
now i noticed, for incomming call ID's my outgoing call ID works like
a charm.
btw. a strange thing i noticed on my phone's call ID is, normaly it
shows the callers phone number, and the "connecting" name of the caller
from it's "phone book" but now i notice when i dial from my gsm to
myself, it shows my gsm number, but not the/my name it should display
from it's phone book...... strange....

I guess you can do the trick, only for one provider, gw1 in my case,
Because you have only one "Subscriber Information" chapter on the Line1
tab-page..
with on line: UserID: +31xxxxxxxxx
+ login info for that ITSP, Display name: you can fill in what you want...
You can try by leaving the other gw accounts blank, that's your
"conflict" perhaps...

No prob - Graag gedaan.
It was quite difficult to get it working, but when combining the
knowledge of several people trying to accomplish it, it usually works.
The only thing left is to create a step-by-step guide to serve those who
want the same.
I hope this tutorial will be useful for many people. When using Google,
they'll surely find this message.

You can also do it by using Voxalot. I have set up my Voipdiscount
account several times in Voxalot as different "providers", each with a
different authorised Caller ID in the "From User" field. Then I set up a
simple dialplan (in Voxalot) with an prefix for each which I dial before
the destination number. That does the trick.
I use an SPA-3102, and it works fine with Voxalot on a gw.

Yep, but it's also a question of keywords and terms, your step by step
guide does realy a good job, a lot of users already searched for this,
but got, until now, no clear answer for it.
As a first time user, of the SPA3102, you get a shock, when you see how
much things you can set....when i got my answer from you, i first did a
factory reset, thru the dial **** menu, and then followed the step by
step guide, i only changed from VoipCheap.com to VoipBuster, and i
notice that Caller ID works better now, with VoipCheap it didn't work
every time correctly..

But that's a web based service ? or isn't it ?
how do you "integrate" that ? could you give an example ?

Wow ! that's a bit too complicated for me, just right now, i'm happy
enough, now i have it working for one sip ITSP, thanks for the info,
i have the feeling, i just know enough for now, as time comes, i maybe
will look for it, although i have things working, i get the feeling,
that i'm just scraping at the surface of the SPA3102 capabilities...

Actually you don't even have to do that. Just set up one gateway account
using Voxalot. Then dial a prefix to select the outbound CLI for the
call that you want (having first set up the dialplan on Voxalot).

About the Caller ID issue: i now notice it works better for the
recognition of the incomming PTSN CID, when i use DTMF (Finland, Sweden)
But that could also because it's a cheap DECT phone, MAX200,
What's the official dialing method of the Netherlands exactly ?
Another thing, people with an "hidden/secret" telephone number, can also
setup a SIP account at a ITSP ? no CID naturaly...

Actually you're right; I'm confusing myself with 2 ways that I use
SPA-3102/Voxalot. Let me clarify my situation:
1. I have Voxalot as my L1 provider on the ATA. As I said, I have
several authenticated CLIs on Voipdiscount. Let's call 2 of them 020
7xxx xxxx and 020 8xxx xxxx. I have set them up as "providers" on
Voxalot and created dialplans in Voxalot in the form _17. ${EXTEN:2} and
_18. ${EXTEN:2} pointing to the two providers respectively. By dialling
17<destination number> I send the first CLI and by dialling
18<destination number> I send the second.
2. (And this is where I have created the confusion). I also use my ATA
for callthrough PSTN-VoIP. To achieve this I have additionally put
Voxalot on a gw (gw2 in my case). When I call into the 3102 my
PSTN-To-VoIP Gateway uses ([x*][x*].<:@gw2>) as its default dialplan and
presents me with Voxalot dial tone. From there I can use the Voxalot
dialplan (17xxx etc.) to call onwards appearing as the CLI of my choice.
Sorry for the incorrect information. I knew I did it it with one
gateway, but I muddled the two approaches.

I still know the old "SOAP" theme, where the voice-over says: confused ?
and yes, i am :)
I thought you can do such things with the SPA3102 itself, but i guess
voxalot makes it all the way for free.....
