Hi,
I am trying to get callerID working on my voipcheap account. I have set up
all my phone numbers on the account, and verified them. I can set them as
caller ID in their software no problems. However I use a SIP device to make
calls (Draytek 2800) but the callerID still comes up withheld. Does anyone
else have this issue?
Otherwise the service is both cheap and very stable with good voice quality.

I'm experiencing the same problem. Whenever I call someone, they get
'number suppressed' or 'secret number' (translations from Dutch). For me
this is not a big issue when calling somebody on a fixed line (most
don't have CallerID displayed), but for a mobile phone it's very
annoying. Most users (including me) don't answer the (mobile) phone if
the calling number is not provided.
BTW: Number verification is used by VoipCheap (and the other Betamax
clones) to be sure it's you dialing/sms-ing (?). Otherwise it's very
easy to spoof somebody else's number.

You have to tell your device which number to present.
I have it working on my asterisk server, however, in the GUI there is a
field that says "outbound caller ID" which makes it very simple.
I am not familiar with the Draytek, so couldn't say where it goes, or
indeed if it's possible on that device.

i have done their number verification process on my home number and mobiles.
Neither seem to come up when I call anyone.

Thanks. The only place to enter a number is in a box called display name. My
other accounts I have the number in there, the voipcheap I entered my name
as a number isn't provided. I have changed this top the number I want
displayed, so will see what happens when I make a call next.

Make sure you send your number in international format, i.e.
0044xxxxxxxxxx - it works fine here (Asterisk).

I sent the verification out as +44121.... and that works, in my UserID field
on my PAP2 I can enter either +44121 or 0044121... or 0121... and the
correct verified CLID is sent. I have my displayed CLID in my UserID field
and my Betamax service username in the Auth ID field and Use Auth ID set to
yes.

another thing, which could be important (at least it was with my
freecall.com account) was, that in the web configuration (in my case www.freecall.com, not in the draytek !) the VOIP number is the first number
to enter and it is marked as VOIP number. I have entered it as +49322...
Second number is my private number +4981...
Perhaps the same option also exists in the configuration of voipcheap ?

Yes this has worked. Many thanks indeed. Now my family know its me calling
when I ring them up instead of a witheld message.

Brilliant job!
I had given up any chance of using CLID on my voipcheap/Draytek
combination!
After a bit of tinkering about with not letting the router register the
account I finally got a genuine number (my geographical number that is
partner to my 0845 number) validated and giving a simple 01179118139
I thank you TheDragon for bringing this thread to light and
{{{{{Welcome}}}}} for the information that has proved most usefull.
No longer shall we get ignored and non-returned calls.

As you have traversed this thread, you'll have found the solution.
I just want to mention that you have to verify your phone number using
the VoipCheap client application, otherwise it will *not* work.

RGR done that. while I was there I verified all my numbers, just in case I
feel like changing my CLID.
Glad everyone is happy. And my question has helped someone else. Maybe over
the coming monnths, people will google the same question and find the answer
that no one seemed to have. Appart from {{{Welcome}}} that is.
Well done. I owe U a beer. Next time yr in Cyprus, look me up.

That was the bit that threw mw.
The client application just wouldn't verify the numbers until I set
voipcheap account in draytek to not register at all.

That's quite understandable as the client refuses to log on when the
same account has logged in already. When it's the client that logs in,
the already running client gets notified a login attempt was made from
another PC. It however doesn't notify you when the login was performed
by your VoIP gateway (or something similar).

Hi TheDragon
Would you mind telling me what firmware version you are using with your
DrayTek?
I'm also using a DrayTek 2800VG (firmware V2.8 but I've tried this in the
past with some older versions) and I've been trying to get it to send my
landline number as CLID with my VoipStunt account, but haven't had any
success.
The landline number has been confirmed and works fine if I use the VoipStunt
software client to make a call, but I can't get it to work with the DrayTek.
I've tried all the possible formats (International +441xxxxxxxxx and
00441xxxxxxxxx, and National 01xxxxxxxxx ) for entering the number into the
"Display Name" field for the account, but nothing will work. All that
happens is that the CLID which is sent is that of the associated free DID
number (0115xxxxxxx).
I've tried de-registering and re-registering the account in between changing
the numbers to no avail.

I am using V2.8 UK.
As I found out the displayname field means nothing. Put your number in the
account field. Then put your account details in the Authentication ID field
and tick the box. I have the number in there in normal UK format 012xx
xxxxxx. If i ring the UK it comes up in uk format. If i ring abroad it comes
as 0044xxxxxxx
I had to ensure the number was verified as it wouldnt work otherwise.

Thanks for your answer, I've now done as you explained with some success.
I've entered my number in UK National format (01xxxxxxxxx) and now if I call
a mobile or one of my Sipgate numbers I get the CLID displayed correctly as
01xxxxxxxxxx as you explained, but if I call my BT landline (the one whose
number I am using as CLID) the CLID is not displayed, I just get
"International" or "Unavail" on the 2 phones I have with caller display. I
suppose this could be that the BT system prevents the called phone receiving
/ displaying its own number as the caller as it would be impossible to call
itself.

Well I just tried registering and verifying one of my Sipgate numbers and
substituting it as CLID.
The same thing happens when calling my landline (ie CLID not passed
through), so it seems it's BT blocking it.
Rob was thinking very hard :

Yes, I see my Voipcheap.com "Presentation Number" stripped by BT, in
/some/ cases.
It is usually stripped ringing home but not when I call the office. It
seldom fails when ringing any mobile or cable phone.

Do you always call to a BT landline? Or perhaps your family are using a
different provider for their landline service?
