Can I get an internet phone if I have satellite internet?

Hi guys,

I am looking into getting an internet phone with my satellite internet, will this work and can anyone recommend a reliable and cheap internet phone provider site?

Based on what I read, VoIP isn't reliable with satellite internet as this kind of internet connection suffers from packet lost (more than any other type of internet connection)

I could not find any company which could provide its services with the satellite internet. Kindly let me know if it is technically possible or not.

I've tried voip using satellite and even with g729 the latency from the satellite makes voip unusable.

Check and see if you have municipal wifi or a wifi provider in your area (there are usually a few in rural areas) and look at using a wifi voip phone.

Even with the latest advances in higher speed satellite, latency (the speed between you and the satellite both ways) will always make the call nearly impossible.
