Discuss VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). The technology used to transmit voice conversations over a data network using the Internet Protocol. Includes SIP, H.323 and IAX
I have a Netgear WPN824 wireless router and WN511 cards in some laptops.
These, despite being MIMO equipment and supposedly resistant to interferance are anything but, with the router resetting itself with monotonous regularity. According the Netgear this is because I have wireless phones in the house.
I really don't want to abandon the roaming aspect of the wireless phones and equally don't want the hassle of having to install telephone extensions all round the house.
Trying to think laterally here it occurred to me that if there was such a thing as a voip gateway then I could connect my landline to it and transmit it around the house in the form of voip on my wireless network.
