Default Skype

Whats the quality of Skype - Out (The skype to land-line program)

(Basic DSL connection)

The skype quality seems good, but I'm scared to try to call someone on a real line, because I don't know if the quality will be all that good :/

I used skype out and in for a while, but found the quality to be pretty poor. This is usually due to network problems though, I'm not sure if everyone gets poor quality on their lines. I've used it in NZ and the UK, and got the same results in both.

There are other voip providers out there that probably do a better job, but skype is so popular. Have a look for a local SIP provider and using asterisk (if you want to mess around with open source VOIP), or even look at the new MSN messenger from Microsoft, (the live version), apparently this has the ability to do land line calls.

I am using skype but have not tried calling someone on a landline using it. Skype to skype has been always good for me. Ive read a couple of reviews on skype to landline and overall most people are not happy with it. Take noodles advice. Get another provider.

Back in 2004 where Skype was so new and offer free pc to pc calls, everyone at work including me registered and used it. I'm a paying customer for awhile but quality seems deteriorated starting late last year and finally had to give it up in favor of Onesuite SuiteAdvantage. So Skype was good in the beginning but eventually suffered too much call quality issues and frequent software glitch.

try skype.com

Its free to use for pc to pc calls and some area I guess but most landline calls or mobile cost will cost you. Just go to skype.com and knock yourself out with information.

I ditched Skype a long time ago because of unreliable connections. I know some people get better connection than I do but I got no luck with Skype. I think they are popular because of their marketing strategy and they are associated/owned by Google. Anyways since I dump skype, I subscribed to SunRocket and they've been superb but unfortunately closed down last summer. Then somebody told me about Onesuite which is actually a prepaid calling card and a voip service in one. A happy camper with Onesuite ever since.

When you install Skype, the first screen you get when you run it is the screen that asks for a name and password. The link at the top lets you log in if you already have a username and password.

Its better you go with VOIp with broadvoice as they give out free adapter and you will get best results and all this will not need big money.

If you are out of USA then purchase a adapter and take voip services

You need to buy Skype credits and try and see if the quality is okay. Otherwise you will never know. Whats okay with us, might not be okay on your end,

The quality of the call is dependent on your telephone network, Skype networks and the receivers network. So different users will have different experiences when it comes to the quality of the call so the only best solution is to give it a try yourself and see if you are happy with the service.

I agree. So try it for a week if you don't like it then forget about it. That's why it's wiser to try only those services with free trials so yuo don't risk of paying anything.
