Default VOIP for a beginner

Looking at the thread titles here i noticed that a lot of you guys are experts with all the terms you are using. I am completely new to voip, of course i know of skype, yahoovoice calls etc but i was just wondering if there's a free service like them that let's me do phone calls from my computer to regular numbers. can someone suggest a good service? hope someone reads my post.

I surely did like www.voip.com's prices. compared to jajah, it's like 75% cheaper. I'm signing up with Voip - Free Calls - Everything Voip!

The VoIP Advantage

Today, Voice over IP no is longer the new kid on the block. Enterprises and call centers are adopting it in waves. A recent report from Frost & Sullivan finds that there will be significant growth in the contact center applications market over the next few years, driven in part by an increasing trend among customers to move to IP-based technology.

One organization that has made the move successfully in its call center is Unison Health Plan, which operates government-sponsored managed healthcare plans in Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Tennessee. Moving to an IP-based communication solution wasn’t just a nice-to-do for the fast-growing insurance provider — it was a technological necessity to meet business and compliance goals.

I've tried voip dot com for a week and I didn't like it. First of all, it says at the beginning og this thread that it is free. No its not free because they have monthly and yearly plans. Also the phone support took a long time to pick up. Oh well I guess I'll just stick to my reliable Onesuite.com service.
