This may be a stupid question, but I was recently looking to purchase a new PDA. I have an 802.11g network in my home. The PDA I was interested in (Dell Axim X51v) is 802.11b compatible. Are b/g networks compatible with eachother, or am I just out of luck?
Yes, 802.11g can work backwards with 802.11b devices, but it has to slow down the network so everything can talk to each other, so if you have a g network with b devices then the maximum speed you can get is 11Mbit.
