Default 802.11g - 802.11n

Hi,
i have a macbook with 802.11g wifi card, and i'd want to buy the new airport extreme with 802.11n.
I know the speed is dependent from the protocol and that i won't see speed improvement, but what i need isn't super-speed but just a good range (living in a flat on two floor each one quite big).
Will the 802.11n base assure me some more range than a 802.11g router ?
Giving the fact that is the router that output the signal, i've assumed that this will be greater also if i have a notebook with 802.11g.
Is my assumption correct ?
thanks in advance

Hi Giulianov,
Your assumption is almost true , but i suggest , you can buy another 802.11n draft WiFi cards and put into the Laptop externally and cobining with the N-router it will boost the signal alot but it will cost alittle more .

Good antennas can help with range as well.

I would suggest you to just get a 802.11g wireless router, because your adapter is only 802.11g aware. Furthermore 802.11n (draft) is not the final version and the price is pretty high..

Check out this wireless FAQ for more information.

Here is wireless network setup tutorial.

Good luck...
