802.1Q (VLAN Tagging)

I have a customer that has a Cisco wireless infrastructure that sets up multiple VLANS. The problem I have is that their wireless VLAN requires VLAN Tagging at the device level. I have a small wireless-to-serial device that does not support this. Is this a normal way to implement this, or should the Cisco access points actually be doing the VLAN Tag adding/stripping, so that my device does not have to do this?

Your cisco gear should do the .1q work for you based off of the native VLAN on the wireless SSID. Then when getting sent out the wired side, it should be encapsulated.
