Advice Please! Using an Open Long Range WiFi network to bridge my own network
Long story short, our village has an open, unsecured, long range WiFi network, that knocks out private IP addresses by DHCP, and has an internet connection, albeit severely overcrowded and almost unusable, sub 1mb connection with a 200ms ping. HOWEVER, pinging another 'local' address brings back a very low ping, i.e. ~3-5ms or so.
I have two sites both in range of this public & open WiFi network, and at one of them I have my home WiFi network with a great 20mb ADSL2 connection.
Obviously by the time you've read up to this point, i'm sure you've sussed what it is I want to do... I'm just not sure how to go about it. (I want to be able to use MY ISP from PLACE 1 in PLACE 2 over the public wifi).
At this point, please fire up the file attached to this post. (mytopology.jpg)
I have a basic knowledge of networking and so had a go at doing this myself, but didn't get anywhere;
I used an old XP system to connect wirelessly to my home router (and thus my ISP) obtaining a 192.168.1.2, also used another wireless adapter to connect to the village public open wifi network, obtaining a 10.0.0.2 for example. Then i used another system in PLACE 2 to connect to the public village wifi, obtaining a 10.0.0.3. (I then changed this to a static 10.0.0.3, and configured it to use 10.0.0.2 as default gateway, dns etc)... But this didn't work and i was still routed over the villages ISP - i know this from checking external ip address etc. Not sure why this didnt work? I thought i'd sussed this problem out myself :P
I have access to a wireless access point that supports bridging mode, point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, repeater mode, universal repeater, client mode, etc etc. And would obviously prefer to just use this to somehow connect my wifi router (and thus ISP connection) to the public wifi network, and then use the IP address of the device as a gateway at the other end of the connection if this is anyway possible.
(Forgot to mention, it's obvious, but I don't want to share my ISP connection with the whole public village WiFi network! - I know if somebody were to guess the IP address i'm using as a gateway etc it could be done, and that that's the risk with an open wifi network if im 'broadcasting' my isps connection via it, i'm aware of all the security risks etc, don't need advice on those (thanks), just the logistics of putting this into operation, nobody around here is going to go to the effort of sniffing out an ip address on the local network as a faster gateway etc, that sort of paranoid security doesnt bother me, I just mean that I want to make sure that people trying to connect normally to the village public wifi arn't somehow DHCP'd a public address on my network and thrown over my ISP automatically)
You guys know much more about networking than me, and i'm sure i've made it obvious what i'm trying to do, so... Any advice will be gratefully received...

First sorry for my english, a hope that u understand me.
In this case using ROUTER_N 300mb + 2x 2,4ghz directional antenna = 1200m fine ?
I have some little knowledge about networking but I am not an expert ..I want to help you but first I need more details :
- first what kind of basic networking knowledge do you have ?
- do u have access to the village wifi access point settings and administrators?
I have some books about networking essentials ..I can upload them for u or send them to u
my initial plan is to connect the wireless access point u have to the router by cable (the longest one u can use) and operating it in the access point mode
what are the distance between "My Place" and the village access point
what are the distance between My 2nd Place" and the village access point
xp has an option in the right click menu of a network connection called "Bridge Connections" but u have to select two not shared connections bviously the 192.168.1.1 and 10.0.0.6 connections
