Default Another Problem

I recently purchased a wirless D-Link 54mbps network card for my desktop computer. Installation was a success, and I was able to connect to my wireless network with no problem. Once connected the signal dropped and I lost connection. This is happening alot, and I am unable to stay connected for more than 2 or 3 mins. During this time I attempt to ping my laptop, but it could not find I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck. Attempted to update drivers, but they are current.. I am at a loss, as to why this would be happening, my laptop connects to the network fine with no problems..

Any suggestions or solutions would be appreciated.

Try disabling power management on the card itself (do this under its property page in Device Manager), repositioning it to get better reception, chaning the channel, using different encryption settings, and updating the access point or router firmware.

These can all be common causes for intermittent disconnecting on wireless networks.

Thanks for the tips.

I tried repositioning, however there was no real great improvement. I did however have some luck with changing the channel, connection remains, although the signal strength is fluctuating from 24mbps, 36mbps and 54mbps.

Should I just take it how it is, or is there a way I can have consistent signal strength??

It is normal for the speed and signal to constantly fluctuate slightly, so as long as the connection works reliably from an application standpoint it sounds like that may have fixed the problem.
