Default Belkin N F5D8231-4 Route

Ok so I just bought the new Belkin N F5D8231-4 Route and for some reason I am only getting 54Mbps from the built in wireless on the laptop and the wireless card I have as well. The wireless card I have is Linksys WPC54GX Ver2. I have a buddy of mine that has the Belkin router as well but not the N series and I push 108Mbps+ over there. I would really appraciate any help I am stumped on what to do. Thx's

108Mbps is not a defined standard, and as such each semiconductor manufacturer has their own method of achieving that speed. If your wireless devices use different brands of chips they will not be compatible and instead fall back to 54Mbps as per the 802.11g standard.

You Linksys card will be using an Airgo chip and many Belkin routers do too hence getting 108Mbps at your mates place. AFAIK your new Belkin router uses an Atheros chipset, and the two brands are not compatible at 108Mbps. Unfortunately this is what happens when manufacturers rush their products to the market before standards are properly in place.
